This SACRED way of Life can change your life, the way of your life, your whole way of being – it has radically changed, reoriented, revolutionised mine.

This is a discipline to carry far past these last 40 some days together. A discipline that leads to an intentional way of living On The Way.

We long to keep walking with you “On the Way” – in the Way Himself. We have been deeply moved by so many of you who have reached out to share with us what this audio journey has meant to you, how Jesus has met you here, how He’s doing deep, miraculous real work within you …

We have prayed and listened and leaned into where our Abba Father is leading...

WayFarer on the Way – can I turn to you on this Sunday morning coming and ask:

What if the chamber of His heart in that clammy tomb hadn’t begun to quiver and spark and rise in the silent dark?

What if his heart hadn’t pounded against His chest like He was pounding at the door of our own tomb, because letting Him in, is our only way out?

What if His scar-mangled hands hadn’t taken the slow careful moments to fold His grave clothes, like He was tenderly dressing our wounds, wrapping our rawest places so new rising hope can always unfold in us?

What if His eyes hadn’t flickered open in the pitch dark, the only glimmer of real light in the entire galaxy, like stars to guide us home instead of being trapped in a strangling black?

What if there was no place to go with all this ache in being human? What if Jesus hadn’t taken us?

WayFarer on the Way – here we are, on maybe the hardest, darkest, saddest day of History, of every calendar year, the Saturday in between, the day after the crucifixion, when it seemed like God got killed, like all Hope seems lost and the dark seems so thick. Nothing went as the disciples had imagined: Their Messiah isn’t sitting on a throne – He is lying dead in a tomb.

WayFarer on the Way, today, your name is on Jesus’ lips... whatever way you have come to this point, whatever you are facing right now, you aren't ever forgotten & you only have to just look into Jesus' face  today & you know that He knows your Via Dolorosa, He knows your staggering, unspoken way of suffering, and today, Good Friday, Jesus turns with the weight of that cross He's carrying, and He looks you in the eye & that cross that's breaking His back, it's the weight of wet wood -- the weight of every tear we've ever cried – He’s carrying it and it’s breaking His heart --- so yours could be healed.

WayFarer on the Way with the WayMaker, are you on the Way with Jesus who began Passion Week, Holy Week, by turning over all of the tables in our interior temples so that we can turn to Him, to be with Him?

And did you then follow Jesus out of the temple, out of the city of Jerusalem by Tuesday afternoon, as Jesus led His disciples out to the Mount of Olives, due east of the Temple, to that mount that over looks the city of Jerusalem, where the disciples turned to Jesus as He begins to prophesy over the coming destruction of Jerusalem...

Friend, on the Way, you can see it today with the eyes of your heart, at the beginning of Holy Week, how Jesus came in the most unexpected way, a king atop a lowly donkey, amidst the shouts of Hosanna - God save us, Hosanna, God save us.

A triumphal entry on Sunday, followed by a troubled exit out of the temple on the Monday. That is where the Monday of Holy Week found Jesus – and where this moment finds us.

I confess, it can be real easy to be the one who praises Him when things turn out our way — all the Hosanna praise hands!! – and then be the one who hardens a bit when it doesn’t go our way.

Because that’s always the temptation when God doesn’t meet our expectations.

When God doesn’t work things out the way we want, someone always wants to grab a piece of wood and a hammer and nail down their own bloody way.

But the subversive truth is, and it comes on Palm Sunday:

What can bring healing peace — is honest hosanna praise.

WayFarer, here you are! Finishing this last week of keeping company with Jesus, before we walk with King Jesus into Holy Week.

As you navigate waves, eyes on the One who walked on waves, who has your name etched on His hands, who carried your burden to the cross and bore them for you – you can know this about your waves:

“Seeing that a pilot steers the ship in which we sail, who will never allow us to perish even in the midst of shipwrecks, there is no reason why our minds should be overwhelmed with fear and overcome with weariness,” writes JOHN CALVIN

And our hearts rise with the Psalmist: “You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.” — PSALM 89:9

So together, we keep returning to it every day, to what King Jesus asked His disciples to examine in their own hearts, out in the middle of a storm: “Why are you so afraid?” (Mark 4:40).

No question may matter more.

My friend, WayFarer on the way, whatever concern or worry or fear may be lurking at the edge of your thoughts today, you can trust Jesus, the only One who has ever loved you to death and back to the realest life. It’s only endless trust in God that can end fear.

As you take time today, to intentionally still, attend, cruciform your thoughts, seek a fresh revelation of God, and examine your heart for any fears lingering there – you can truly rest easy. Whatever desert you may be fearing up in the future the truth is:

Deserts are places of dependence on God. Deserts are not places where God deserts you but a place deserted of noise so you can hear a word from God.

WayFarer on the Way – as we walk this 5th week of Lent with Jesus, our suffering Saviour, who is walking toward Calvary, with all of our sorrows and tears and heartache and heartbreak filling His heart with love… might we still first – to know that He is God. Always first stillness – stillness is our strength – because it’s our way of saying that we trust Him still.

That attentiveness – who do we say that He is? He is our suffering Savior – who enters into all our suffering, bears all our suffering to save us – and He is our Wounded Healer. By His stripes we are healed. Attending to where are we coming from right now – and where are we going? Are we coming from deep sadness and loss? Are we coming from concern and confusion? Are we coming from hurry and worry? Attend to where our soul is at – and where our soul is going? Are we going with Jesus on the Way – whatever way He leads? What do we want – do we want most – whatever Way He wants most and deems is best?

Nothing formed against us can stand – when we live cruciform. Let yourself be formed cruciform – and you begin to let go – open up your arms and heart into the posture of surrender and let go.
