In A World of Taking Sides, Take This (Healing) Way Forward

I don’t know how many times I have thought about him this week, a farmer I met with beat-up hands, about 9 miles southwest of Bethlehem.

He asks me what I do.

I tell him I’m a farmer’s wife, daughter of a farmer, grand-daughter of a farmer — yeah, farmers are about the only thing our family tree has ever known.

Good Reads This Fall? Best Book Recommendations

I’ve collected some of my best book picks for you:

Books from the stack here this week:

Our Daily Breath Devotional: 365 Prayers and Practices that Whisper Peace in a Shouting World offers a simple way to pause, breathe, and awaken to the presence of God. It’s for all of us who long to breatheagain—to pray in the midst of our very real lives. Our Daily Breathoffers a yearlong journey of prayer, thoughtful reflection, and spiritual renewal.

Through brief daily readings, Scripture, breath prayers, poetry, guided prompts, and embodied practices, Kayla helps us cultivate a sustainable rhythm of faith—one breath, one prayer, and one day at a time.

As a teenager in the foster-care system, Tori believed that she was unwanted and unloved, and her heart hardened toward God. Then her foster mom brought her to a church that took the call to care for the vulnerable very seriously. Tori saw church members stock the food bank, pick up strangers from recovery meetings, and set an extra place at the table for anyone who needed it. Their posture of hospitality led her to embrace God as her Father.

In Safe House Tori shows how that same kind of welcome—offered through your dinner table, guest bedroom, or backyard—can become a place where both you and the people you invite in start to heal. This isn’t about having the right home, the right words, or a perfectly set table. It’s about becoming a safe house.

His new book, The Reason for Jesus, reveals the ultimate purpose of the cross is not just a ticket to heaven, but an invitation into an intimate, life-changing relationship with the God who has always wanted you back.

The book is an invitation to move past religious duty ….

and into a transformative, grace-filled connection with the God who desires, above all, to be known as Father.

It’s a compelling read for anyone seeking to understand the heart behind the gospel and experience the profound, personal love of God.

The One Year Bible New Testament for New Beginnings by DaySpring is the perfect companion for whatever is ahead. Confidently take your next steps with daily Scripture passages and encouraging messages written to help you better experience the presence of God.

This beautifully designed Bible has readings listed by days rather than dates, and a timeline helps you keep track of where you are while reading through the entire New Testament in one year.

It also gives you access to the revolutionary Filament Bible app. Want to go deeper in what you’ve read? Download the app on your phone or tablet and scan the page number of your Bible to discover over 25,000 study notes, devotionals, videos, and so much more!

Do you too need to know there is something ahead of you  – that is so good that it changes everything about today?

And you and I, together, we could unpack it together:
• What does the future hold?
• How will all things ever be made all right? How in the world is “everything sad going to come untrue”?
• How does today really matter?

If you deeply feel that the world is not as it should be…
THEN THIS NIGHT IS FOR YOU, & I WANT TO MEET YOU HERE! Experience a one-night event full of encouragement, laughter, and real life-changing hope!
