So ends come, and beginnings too.
They always come together those two —like friends trusting each other.
The summer that was, it ends, slips behind us, and we’ll all spin a bit further around the sun and how do I know if I’ve followed you out on enough limbs yet? I love how you grin and lean.
I think I’d like a few more bare foot days with you.
Because really, when was the last time I just tickled all of your tempting toes? I’d laugh longer than you — I promise.
Listening for that last bit of belly laughter to drift high and away… us all happy and tired and found.
So something ends and something begins and I’m missing you already.
And I’m wistful for what’s behind and what could have been and I have never travelled this road that lies ahead of us here.
Somedays I am even brave enough to say that I am scared — I wonder if bends in the roads can break things.
But I keep turning back to this, me on an axis of my own: Christ wins.
Roads can twist and what untwists me is just that: Christ wins.
I can fall and all hope can fall and the day can skin it’s shins hard and this is a startling fallen world — but what can trip peace when I know Christ wins?
This doesn’t mean I’m negligent and don’t commit — it just means I already know Who conquerors.
It means I know that the ultimate truth is, that no matter what is ultimately the problem, Christ ultimately wins.
Christ wastes nothing and He repurposes pain for His purposes and He’ll use up all of creation for His glory.
The wind is murmuring through the leaves here.
Maybe you hear it — rumors of a time such as this?
We could laugh unafraid, you and I. Walk right out to the end of a limb.
We could trust — us in our bare toes, believing.
No, you and I have never been down this road before, this new one we’re just beginning — but maybe we know exactly where it leads?
We have time to sing — Christ wins.
If you beautiful folks are joining Lysa TerKeurst and I for tonight’s webcast, saying Yes to God — right where we are, in the midst of fear and frustrations…
Then just a few Free Printables for your pocket as you say yes to God: “Notes to Soul” (Oh, these “notes to soul,” notes to tuck in a pocket, may seem a bit random, but maybe will make more sense after the webcast, Lord willing?).Download Notes to Soul: Free Printables in Saying Yes to God here.
And to count all the ways Christ wins, moment by moment — count the gifts? Count all the ways He loves? How He is conquering and transfiguring all the world?
